One word to describe this hotel is Amazing. The grounds are absolutely stunning so when people say "old" I hope they mean authentic as the grounds have a very beautiful traditional Bali feel that is romantic, welcoming and magical.
The staff have a very great understanding of English and for those who might struggle a little they make up for it pure kindness and a welcoming smile. To be frank, I'm a little disgusted by the comments that the staff's English is not good enough. As a traveller you should not expect all staff in a foreign country to speak a language perfectly that is not their native tongue when you visit. I never see the travellers who complain constantly ever attempt to learn a little Indonesian for better communication and I've found it more than easy to communicate with all staff here in the restaurants, spa, reception and even house keeping. It's beautiful to see their smiles when you attempt a greeting or thank you in Indonesian as well.
The spa was heaven. I had a package service that was top quality in service, atmosphere and professionalism. You must try the body scrub as you'll never feel this wonderful again and the private jacuzzi was a very relaxing touch as well. I couldn't stop smiling the whole time even when I was alone.
I've been travelling all over Bali, Gili, Lombok, etc for weeks and the restaurant food is the best I've had since I've been here. Although a little pricier than some local restaurants, I am a firm believer that you should pay for quality and that's what you get here. Even so, it's still very reasonably priced. I don't understand how some people can complain about the food.
If you complain about this food then you'll complain about anything because the hotel offers absolutely delicious dinners with a very beautiful offering for private romantic settings although just sitting around the evening lights near the poolside is romantic itself and stunningly beautiful. The breakfast was great and more than enough to start your day off with a good meal, coffee and even a few early morning desserts 🙂
I have never come across a hotel in any of my travels (and I travel around the world frequently in some top hotels and resorts) with such a large and beautiful offering of pools, private sections and day beds to relax in. If you want to change scenery here you just go to the next very beautiful pool on the Resort. That's right, there are MANY to choose from and unlike most hotels, this one allows you to swim 24 hours so if you want to take a late night dip in the pool under the beautiful Bali lights you can. The staff were even kind enough to fetch me a bottle opener so I could drink a couple of Bintang beers near the pool during a late night swim.
There are many options around the hotel to choose from and the shuttle is quite convenient. They even provide you with a very reasonable priced taxi service for off hour rides to and from the town centre. It's safe to walk around the Resort and you can easily take a stroll nearby for a dinner or drink somewhere close if you want to leave the Resort (although I don't know why you'd want to leave such a lovely place). There are many more options in Ubud town centre and it's very easy to get transport to and from. The transport is not far, maybe only 5-10 mins drive from the hotel.
I can't even explain how lovely the rooms are here. I booked the bungalow which is essentially a private mini Bali designed cottage in the Resort. It's screams romance, luxury and peaceful solitude. I'm sure the standard rooms are also very beautiful but I would suggest the bungalow to everyone as it is the perfect touch to an amazing Resort.
Honestly, I've suggested this Resort to all of family and friends. It's a winner and if you choose somewhere else then you will miss out on a real gem.
